Troop 146 Scouts kayaking in the Pine Barrens, May 2026. Stuck in a kayak traffic jam at a shallow point under a bridge, but they made it past the obstacle and continued down river to the stopping point for lunch.

Scouts paddled along the Mullica River in tandem kayaks. The trip was a challenging 6 miles on day 1 and another 5 on day 2 as the river level was low due to the drought. Scouts had to navigate around fallen trees, logs, sandbars, and current to reach our camping spot and pullout spots.

Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser

Please come out and support an Eagle Scout project fundraiser to benefit The Hoboken Shelter. It will be held Sunday, June 4th from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm at St. Francis Church (308 Jefferson Street, Hoboken, NJ).

Admission will be $10 for individuals and $25 per family (3 or more people). Donations will also be accepted.

Camp Lewis Conservation Project

On April 29th scouts participated in a Camp Lewis conservation project of planting over 250 trees and clearing of debris from pathways and campsites. During the day scouts also learned about the County College of Morris Horticulture Program and the NJ Fish and Wildlife Conservation Police.

Horsemanship Merit Badge

Scouts participated in the first session of their horsemanship merit badge on Sunday, April 23 at Seaton Hackney stables in Morristown, NJ. Some of the scouts who participated need the horsemanship merit badge for their upcoming trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico this summer.

Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

On April 16th scouts participated in helping Noah Scheiman with his annual spaghetti dinner to fundraise for his upcoming Eagle Scout project in which he will construct a environmental rain garden at Community Church of Hoboken. The event took place at the Elk’s Lodge on Washington Street.

Liam Richardson’s Eagle Scout Project

I would like to clean and beautify a monument in my favorite hometown park, Church Square Park in Hoboken, NJ. I would like to tell the story of the Four Chaplains monument while also cleaning and beautifying the adjacent area in Church Square Park. A significant part of the refreshing and cleaning will include painting and landscaping.

Another goal will be to connect the community to the monuments and their history. I want to create and use an outdoor plaque with a QR code that allows us to tell the monument’s story. I would work with the Hoboken Historical Museum to ensure that we are able to electronically inform residents and visitors quickly and easily from their mobile devices.
